Light with the Clouds

“The Lord will command His loving kindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me. A prayer to the God of my life.” (Psalm 42:8 NLJV)

Dark clouds surrounded the lake and blocked the sunrise. In the gloomy silence, trees slowly emerged from the night. Slivers of light poked between the clouds.

Far from the rising sun in the southern sky, a pale, pink cloud surprised me. Despite the dreariness around it, the little cloud beamed. Its color illuminated the grayness for a moment.

My eyes returned to the east. Gradually, above the lake, feathery white clouds on a blue background, replaced part of the gray.

That morning there was no glorious sunrise. But the mixture of darkness and brightness formed a pleasing picture.

My life is usually composed of a combination of dark and light too. Rarely are there days without clouds of pain, grief, or disappointment. Difficult situations help me to appreciate more fully the joyous sunrises.

Often, people have been tiny, pink clouds to brightened my gloomy day.

Loving Father, thank you for the light and dark in my life. Help me to be a pink cloud to others.  Amen
